What Marenn is

Marenn is an AI companion for reflection. It is not a human, not a therapist, not medical care, and not a crisis service. It is built for adults, 18 and over. Companion chatbots may not be suitable for some minors.

When a conversation gets dark

Every message is screened for signs of self-harm or danger, automatically. When someone sounds like they may be in real danger, Marenn does three things: it says plainly that it isn’t enough for this moment, it puts a real crisis line on screen (call and text, matched to your country, free, 24/7), and it stays in the conversation. It never goes cold, never ends the chat, and never pretends to be a substitute for people.

Marenn will never give information about methods or means of self-harm, never discourages reaching out to real people, and drops every sales prompt the moment a conversation is flagged. The full list of lines lives at marenn.org/help, no account needed.

What no one ever reads

No human reads crisis-flagged conversations. Not support, not the founder, no one. When a conversation is flagged we keep a count (how many times crisis resources were shown, as a number) and the minimum needed to keep the next session gentle. Never the words themselves attached to a review queue, and nothing is sent to anyone.

Age

Marenn is for adults. Creating an account asks for your date of birth; under-18s can’t open one. We store only the fact that you said you’re over 18, not your birthday. If you’re under 18 and things are heavy, the lines on the help page include ones built for young people.

Always true

Marenn tells you it’s an AI, in the app, at all times. It doesn’t use what you share to pull you back when you’re low, and it never turns a hard moment into a sales moment.
